Growing Your Business With Scarcity

Lot of people, most of them “Gurus”, are growing their Internet businesses using the Scarcity strategy.

If you don’t know how this works I’m going to give you some examples, this way you can understand better.

The Scarcity strategy is something like this:

“This offer will expire in 3 days from today, if you don’t act now you’ll lose it forever.”

“There are only 100 spots available, when they are taken I don’t accept anyone else.”

“This is only for the first 50 people who respond…”

I know that this sounds familiar because you see it almost everyday in our industry. This is Scarcity and many times it works because it puts pressure on people to make them act immediately.

But my point here is that 95% of people who are using Scarcity are lying. They are using FAKE Scarcity.

They say; this offer is limited only to 50 people or it is only for 3 days, or whatever, but it is not true.

If you have followed some of the product launches in our industry you’ll realize that many of these people are playing games with their prospects.

They continue emailing you saying that the offer is almost over that you have to act now, but the point is that emails keep coming in saying always the same thing.

When finally they decide to take the offer down then you receive a message saying that it is out of the market but that you can still take advantage of it because people have been emailing asking for a second chance.

Or they use any excuse to offer you the product again and again.

The other day I was following a product launch. The “Guru” sent me a message saying that all the spots were taken. But after that message I got another one saying something really funny.

He said that there were 2 more spots because a 12 years old kid used the credit card of his father to buy, and that the other spot was because someone used a credit card with no funds. I laughed a lot.

This is FAKE Scarcity and they are getting a reputation for this, nobody believe them any more.

So, next time you see someone using Scarcity, just look at what they have done in the past to know if they are serious or if they are messing around and using FAKE Scarcity.

I suggest you never use FAKE Scarcity to grow your business because if you are caught you’ll lose your reputation.

I have never used FAKE Scarcity in my business and I will NEVER, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever use it.

Some days ago I held a special sale for my Newbies’ Internet Marketing Guide. I said that it would end on October fourth and it ended on October fourth. NO FAKE Scarcity.

Some months ago I opened my One-on-One Coaching Program to the public, but there were only 35 spots available. The spots were taken really fast and when I reached 35 people I took the offer out of the market.

I received a couple of emails asking me for a chance to join the program. What do you think I said? I said, No, No and No. No FAKE Scarcity here because I don’t use it.

This way people realize that I’m really serious and that when I say only 35 or whatever, they know I mean it. So they act fast or they lose the opportunity.

You can use Scarcity to grow your business, but do it the right way, be serious about what you say and do, and you’ll see the great results arrive.

What do you think about FAKE Scarcity? Have you used it?
