Many affiliates don’t make any money and fail because they don’t treat it as a
business, they think that it is about having a Myspace page and writing a couple
of articles. They don’t put any effort into this.

It is the wrong approach and the end result is failure. It is a business and
you have to treat it as such, all the things you need off line you have to
incorporate online.

But on the other hand, there are lot of affiliates making a lot of money, they
are making a living online and these are the people you have to model.

Look at what they are doing, study the system they have in place and based on
that build your own system.

You can get the affiliate link the merchant gives you and promote it
everywhere, but doing only this you are not going to make a lot of money. You
need more.

If you study successful affiliates you’ll realize that they have a solid system
in place. They have a domain name, a website and a list of prospects.

Here are some tips:

1. Register a domain name similar to the name of the product you are promoting.

2. Create a website specific for the product you are promoting.

3. Open an account with an autoresponder, Aweber is a good one, to capture your
prospects’ names and emails.

You need a kind of squeeze page where you give away something of value (free
report) in exchange for names and emails. This way you are building your list of
prospects.

4. Mask your affiliate links and follow up your prospects with good tips, then
explain why they need the product you are promoting, state clearly how they can
benefit from it.

5. Split and test your promotional campaigns even emails. This will help you
know which one is doing better.
