Well, let me tell you that this happened 3 years ago when my Internet Business started to take off and it was by accident.
I am not going to tell you the amount of subscribers I get everyday because it is private information and it is not my intention to impress you with my numbers.
I am going to tell you the story about how in 2006 I was able to put 87 subscribers into my email list in 24 hours.
I strongly believe in videos, they are the most powerful tool when it comes to Internet Marketing because you can demonstrate things and show your face, this way people see that you are real.
Also, you can stand out from your competitors and create your brand showing your character, the way you talk and act.
With all this in mind I decided to start making videos to see if I could take my business to the next level, because I was making some money but I knew I could make much more.
So, I got my Camcorder and began to record myself giving tips about how to start and grow an Internet Business based on my own experience – if you don’t know me let me tell you that English is not my first language, more about this later.
I made 4 videos just giving some tips, nothing special, the quality of the tips was good but the videos were not high quality videos.
Then I opened an account with Youtube, which was not so popular and that time and didn’t have all the features it has now, and uploaded my videos.
Of course, I used keywords in title and description and in the very beginning of the description I put a link to my site. At that time most people didn’t know that these things were important when using Youtube.
Obviously after a couple of days my videos have only a few views so, I realized that I had to do something to get views. But back in 2006 all those social media sites that you see today weren’t around so, it was more difficult to spread the word.
Then I sent out an email to my list of subscribers talking about my new Youtube channel and asking for feedback. Plus, I went to some forums were I was an active participant at that time and engaged in conversations…
If someone had a problem that was covered in my Youtube videos I used to say something like:
“Here’s a video that is going to answer your question, go and watch it now and let me know what you think, this way I don’t have to type a lot to give you the answer ”
These techniques worked and I got some more views and a couple of subscribers (email list, not Youtube subscribers) but it was not enough. Then, after a couple of days the “Big Explosion”.
I remember that day when I was preparing my things to go on vacation and checked my stats…
Boy, all of a sudden I had thousands of views and lot of comments and this brought me 87 subscribers in 24 hours.
It was something unbelievable and from that point on my business took off at a very high speed.
I know what you are thinking… “I don’t get it PV, where is the deal?”
Here’s is why I got that huge amount of views and comments…
Do you remember that I told you that English is not my first language?
Well, it worked like a charm. Some people began to leave comments criticizing my strong accent and the way I talk (almost yelling).
Here’s the video, but if you want to understand what I say pay close attention because I know my pronunciation was not good, I know it looks like crap but it worked so don’t laugh too much…
In the comments some people said that I was Borat brother’s among many other crazy things. They shared the video with their friends and family, the video was all over the Internet.
And as a direct result of that my video was viewed thousands of times and I got a lot of traffic to my site because some people believed in me…
Some of these people have been my loyal customers and friends for over 3 years.

What’s the take away?
Probably you are thinking that the take away is that videos work, yes they work but it is not the main take away.
Here’s the main take away…
Don’t let what others can think or say about you stop you. If they criticize you, don’t care. The day you forget the bad things others say about you and you do what you have in mind you are going to see HUGE results.
I remember that some people contacted me asking how I was feeling about the criticism, and my answer was: “Who cares, they are helping me grow my business”.
As long as you don’t do anything unethical, go ahead and implement what you have in mind because it could pay off with exponential rewards.
Don’t let bad criticism stop you!
Since that I’ve worked on my English and now it is much better but not great…
I continue making videos because videos turned my business and life around. I could be hidden behind well proofread text but due to the way I do marketing I know from experience that it doesn’t work that well for me.
